Physical Reactions

Physical Reactions is a painting that measures 16x16 feet (4.88 X 4.88 meters) and is composed of 16 panels. It began as an installation experimenting with the study of gravity.

Rosaria Pugliese built an elaborate system of poles, intersecting strings, and balloons filled with mixed media, which, when triggered, released the media onto the wooden panels below.

Abandoning the traditional use of both the easel and paintbrush, the  artistplays with the element of control and the element of chance.

The entire process was captured on video on at the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood, Florida during ten consecutive hours and edited shortly thereafter into a seven minute video and actually edited again to a shorter version of 2 minutes; right below.
